New research member: Zeynep Arslan

Since 1 October, Zeynep Arslan is working as a doctoral fellow of the DAAD at the ZMS. After earning her BA from the History Department at Middle East Technical University, Zeynep pursued her MA studies at Istanbul Bilgi University. Until September 2018, she has been a doctoral research fellow in the ERC project: UrbanOccupationsOETR conducted at Koc University, as well as a research assistant and doctoral student at Istanbul Sehir University’s Department of History. She is currently a PhD student at Ruhr-Universität Bochum’s Department of History as a DAAD scholar. Arslan is a prospective historian whose areas of study are in line with Medieval Italy and Early Modern Ottoman history writing with a fledgling interest in Ottoman demographic history. The titel of her thesis is: "Reconstructing the daily life of Ottoman Muslim merchants in 18th and 19th century Trieste".
