Call for Papers: 8th Young Researcher’s Workshop

The Centre for Mediterranean Studies at the Ruhr-University Bochum invites young researchers from the humanities, cultural and social sciences working on Mediterranean topics to a workshop from 5 to 6 February 2020.

Please send your applications until January 13, 2020.

It is against the background of political, economic and cultural changes and accompanying increasing regional and global interdependencies and exchange processes that area studies are becoming more and more important. There is indeed a great deal of scientific, public and political interest in scientific information on interconnections, transitions and continuities of Mediterranean history, politics, society and culture. The Centre for Mediterranean Studies of the Ruhr-University Bochum brings together young scholars from Mediterranean studies and invites young scholars from the humanities and social sciences to a workshop to Bochum.

The workshop in relaxed atmosphere offers young researchers the opportunity to present their own research related to the Mediterranean to an interdisciplinary audience, to discuss methodological problems and theoretical perspectives, to exchange and to network. We look forward to contributions from all cultural, humanities and social sciences.

The workshop will take place on February 6 and 7, 2020. The workshop language is German. Contributions in English are possible. Travel and accommodation expenses may be covered or subsidized after prior consultation.

Applications should include an abstract (max. 500 words + five keywords) for an approximately twenty minute presentation as well as a CV.
